A message from our partner
Last year once again featured exceptional Canadian productions in the television and film business, reminding us that our homegrown creators rank among the world’s most remarkable talent. Bell Media is thrilled to partner with the Harold Greenberg Fund to ensure it continues its mission to provide financial support to an increasing amount of quality productions.
Since the implementation of the Fund’s English-Language Program in 1986, followed by the French-Language Program in 1996, an impressive total of $102 million has been invested to bring nearly 4,440 productions to our screens. Thanks to the Fund’s financial support, tremendous domestic and international hits, such as Atom Egoyan’s The Sweet Hereafter, Éric Canuel’s Bon Cop, Bad Cop, Sarah Polley’s Away From Her, and Xavier Dolan’s Juste la fin du monde, saw the light of day.
In 2015-2016 alone, the Harold Greenberg Fund invested more than $5.5 million in 156 productions, including François Girard’s Hochelaga, terre des âmes, which highlights Montréal’s 375th anniversary; Léa Pool’s Et au pire, on se mariera, starring Karine Vanasse; as well as Maudie, starring Sally Hawkins and Ethan Hawke, which won the People’s Choice Award at the 2016 Vancouver International Film Festival.
In an era when international competition in the film and television industry is stronger than ever, our creators and artists need the means to match their ambitions, and support that reflects their genius. As the Fund begins its 31st year of operation, Bell Media is proud to reaffirm its steadfast commitment to the industry so that it may continue to move audiences both here and abroad.
